Hail country, measured.

Spring storms in North Texas drop hail big enough to break a roof. Here is what each size does to an ordinary asphalt shingle.

Hailstone size scale Three hailstones drawn to scale on a ruler: 1 inch (quarter), 1.75 inches (golf ball) and 2 inches (hen egg). 0123456789 1″ 1.75″ 2″ IN
  1. 1″ Quarter

Knocks granules loose and leaves soft bruises. Often no leak yet, but the shingle starts aging faster in our sun.

  2. 1.75″ Golf ball

Cracks the mat of many standard shingles and dents vents, gutters and AC fins. Worth a documented inspection.

  3. 2″ Hen egg

Breaks standard shingles outright and can bruise the deck below. This is the size the Class 4 test is built around.

From the first call to the last nail sweep.

Insurance, the honest way.

No gimmicks. No “free roof” promises. Just the documentation a fair claim needs.

What we do

  1. Inspect the whole roof, not just the obvious spots.
  2. Photograph every hit, with chalk marks and close-ups.
  3. Write it up in a damage report you can share with your insurer.
  4. Meet your adjuster on site, if you want us there, to point out what we found.

What we don't do

  1. Negotiate your claim or speak for you. That is between you and your insurer, or a licensed public adjuster.
  2. Waive, rebate or “cover” your deductible. It is illegal in Texas.
  3. Promise a free roof to get a signature.

Ask about monthly payment options.

Most hail damage can't be seen from the yard. Clues you can spot from the ground: dents in gutters, downspouts and roof vents, dented AC fins, and shingle granules collecting at the bottom of downspouts.

On the roof itself, hail leaves dark "bruises," cracks and spots where granules are knocked off. That damage can age a roof years early even without an immediate leak. A free inspection with photos is the only reliable way to know.

Many homeowners call us first for a free inspection, so they know whether there's real storm damage before opening a claim. If we find damage, you'll get a written photo report to share with your insurer. If we don't, we'll tell you, and you won't have a claim on your record for nothing.

Check your policy. Many Texas homeowners policies now require wind and hail damage to be reported within one year of the storm date, not the date you noticed it.

Texas law generally allows two years to sue over a disputed claim, but don't count on that window. The safest move is an inspection within weeks of a storm.

No, and no honest Texas roofer will. Texas law requires the policyholder to pay the deductible, and it's illegal for a contractor to waive, absorb or rebate it.

Under Texas Insurance Code §707.002 and Business & Commerce Code §27.02 (HB 2102, 2019), every insurance-funded contract of $1,000 or more must carry this notice in at least 12-point bold type: "Texas law requires a person insured under a property insurance policy to pay any deductible applicable to a claim made under the policy." Your insurer can also ask for proof that you paid it.

If a contractor offers to "eat your deductible," they're usually planning to inflate the bill or cut corners.

We'll do everything a roofer can legally do: inspect, document every hit with photos, give you a written report, and meet your adjuster on site if you'd like.

Under Texas law, a contractor doing the work can't act as your public adjuster or negotiate your settlement, so we don't. You stay in control of your claim.

Our heat, UV and hail are hard on roofs. Architectural asphalt shingles typically last about 18-25 years here, Class 4 impact-resistant shingles somewhat longer, and standing-seam metal 40-60+ years.

Good attic ventilation makes a real difference. A hot, poorly vented attic bakes shingles from below.

Class 4 is the top rating under the UL 2218 impact test, where a 2-inch steel ball is dropped on the shingle from 20 feet. In hail country, they hold up much better than standard shingles.

Texas has required insurers to offer a premium discount for UL 2218 Class 4 roofs since 1998. The amount varies by company, so ask your agent. We provide the paperwork you'll need to request it.

It depends on roof size, pitch, layers to tear off and material. As a rough guide, most single-story homes in our area land between about $9,000 and $18,000 with architectural shingles. Class 4 shingles cost more, and standing-seam metal is typically two to three times the price of shingles.

Your inspection and written estimate are free.

Most homes are finished in one to two days on site, weather permitting. We pull the city permit, protect your landscaping, run magnetic sweepers for nails and do a final walk-through with you.

Texas doesn't issue a state roofing license, which is exactly why you should ask every roofer for proof of insurance and local registration. We're fully insured, registered with the City of Wichita Falls, and we pull a permit for every re-roof. (Demo company, fictional credentials.)

Yes. We offer monthly payment options through third-party lenders, subject to credit approval. Every roof comes with our 10-year workmanship warranty on top of the manufacturer's material warranty.
